The management team at Square must be feeling pretty good these days. Square was the target of a vicious PR campaign by a much larger hardware maker and mobile payments rival in early March. Observers of the salvos have commented that the attacks, supported with ads and YouTube videos, back-fired when the industry and Square’s customers rallied around the start-up.
Square looks like it will get the last laugh over the smack-talk by a larger competitor because according to TechCrunch, Square will replace their bigger rival as the “only payments solution featured in the store,” Up until recently, a competitor’s mobile sleeve was available.
