Dan Stiel is a marketing provocateur focused on disruptive technologies and innovation. Also an aspiring raconteur, Dan has written and published several books, been a speaker at numerous trade shows and special events, and strives diligently to stay ahead of the changes in technology and tools. He considers himself to be a life-long student of human behavior.
Dan started his marketing career while a freshman in college working part-time as a marketing intern for Bank of America. Within two years, he along with several classmates, established a marketing services company called Ad-Vans Advertising, serving clients across the Southern California region.
After graduating from college, he sold his interest in the business and joined First Interstate Bancorp, where he expanded his expertise in product development, advertising and brand management, sales, and direct marketing.
Finishing more than a decade with First Interstate, Dan joined Tosco/Circle K Stores as the Director of Financial Services, followed by Visa as Director of Fleet Purchasing Cards before starting Stiel Direct LLC in 2000.
Dan holds a significant and well-recognized track record in developing and driving profitable marketing and customer acquisition, activation, usage, product and market development, retention, and database strategies across a broad range of marketing products and channels.
In addition to speaking at national marketing conferences on a variety of subjects, Dan has appeared on numerous national and international news programs over the years including CNN, CBS, NBC, and ABC, as a subject expert in financial services and motorsports marketing.
Education:
Dan Stiel is a graduate of the University of Southern California School of Business, where he studied marketing and finance.
He also attended Long Beach City College, the American Bankers Association School of Bank Marketing, and the University of California, Irvine, accumulating enough credits to earn a degree in Liberal Arts, as well as Certificates in Bank Marketing and Public Relations, respectively.
Dan also holds the California Real Estate Broker’s License (#01886935), which helps him pursue his passion for architecture.
Sports Marketing:
Dan has spent over 25 years both professionally and volunteering his time in sponsorship development, media relations and organizing professional and amateur sports events including world championship off-shore powerboat racing, NASCAR, Formula One and Indy Car auto racing, developing his marketing and public relations skills working with the world’s greatest motorsports legends, journalists, sponsors, and team owners.
He created and produced a number of international motorsports television shows, including programming for CBS Sports International and the predecessor to Fox Sports, and countless high-profile motorsports media events.
