This Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 8:30 PM, we encourage you to join millions of people across the globe in switching off non-essential lighting for one hour to observe Earth Hour, the world’s largest public environmental action.
In 2007, Earth Hour began as a single-city initiative in Sydney, Australia, and has since grown into a global movement with millions of people from more than 5,000 cities and towns in 135 countries/territories across every continent switching off their lights to make history as the world’s greatest environmental action. A global call to action for every individual throughout the world, Earth Hour invites all of us to take responsibility for our environmental impact and join a growing international community of people who are committed to leading environmental change.
With your help, the impact of Earth Hour 2013 will be even greater than in past years. The theme of this year’s campaign is “I will if you will.” The idea is to spur those around you into action by challenging them to an “I will if you will” scenario. For example, “I will ride my bike to work every day for a month if you persuade 15 of your friends to participate in Earth Hour 2013.” By doing this, we not only achieve participation in Earth Hour, but also influence more significant changes in the community at large.
As a proud supporter of Earth Hour, all of us at The Stiel Report™ encourage you to join with us and millions of others in endorsing a global call to action. Getting involved is easy:
Dare a friend, co-worker, or family member to save the planet by engaging them in an “I will if you will challenge.”
- Tune In
Invite your friends and family to participate and stay connected to the conversation by becoming a fan of Earth Hour on Facebook and following @earthhour on Twitter.
- Turn Out
Switch off your non-essential lighting from 8:30-9:30 PM local time on Saturday, March 23.
Help us make sure the lights go out at 8.30 PM on March 23 by switching off all non-essential office lights and unplugging non-essential equipment before leaving the building on Friday, March 22. Additionally, please make sure to turn off all lights at home during the event. Share the moment with family and friends and consider how you can reduce your ecological footprint with a commitment to an action that benefits the planet beyond the hour.
Thank you for helping to make Earth Hour 2013 the biggest effort yet.
